THE “WHO I AM” PROJECT

GAWKY PHOTO INSPIRES WHO I AM PROJECT

"Did I not exist as a tween?" I think to myself as I flip the plastic pages of my parents' family photo album. One of the few photos that exists of me as a preteen is a traditional school photo. You know the one, that head and shoulders pose with the cheesy grin. My teeth are slightly too big for my face and my hair isn't combed. Ah, sweet innocence.

Babies are so cute, new and chubby. Toddlers have those big, bright eyes and lets face it, they just do the darndest things. But those tween ages are often forgotten.

I've made it my mission to capture those lost photo years, while helping young tweens build confidence and self-esteem. The goal of this project is to help tweens look and feel beautiful - both inside and out - and feel secure in themselves before they hit high school. I want them to see that their unique qualities are what make them the amazing individuals they are, and not something to hide away from for fear of being ‘different’.

In comes the “WHO I AM" project:

I am are starting the “WHO I AM" photography project to fill in the forgotten photo years while enriching the lives of pre-teens. The main goal is to make pre-teens look and feel special and have confidence in who they are.

Who am I looking for:

I work with tweens between the ages of 9-12. I invite these tweens to do a beautiful photo shoot in my studio, and ask them to bring something they’re passionate about. I then survey their parents, grandparents, coaches, teachers and friends, combining the text and photographs to create an impactful piece of art. The final presentation is a surprise to both the tween and their families.  This experience is free for the first 20 participants, who also receive a $50 print credit (5x7 fine art print) as a thank you for participating.

Why “WHO I AM"?

I want to capture the personality of these pre-teens and record the last stage of their childhood before they become young adults. I want them to realize their true beauty and specialness so that they are confident in themselves before they hit their most difficult years. Imagine the impact a single beautiful image can have on a tween’s self-image.

How to participate or nominate a friend:

The in-studio session itself is complimentary for the first 20 registrants* and includes $50 in product credit (a $175 value), which can be used toward a beautiful fine art print or collection. My goal is to create a gorgeous group of photos you'll love and that truly show your tween's spirit and soul!  If you are interested in purchasing additional products or images, our studio portrait collections start at $375.

Now imagine having your tween child participate in an exclusive photography project where it’s not only about them, but the ones they care about and love the most join together to create an unforgettable self-confidence boosting experience.

Where actions, words, and our most loving thoughts come into play to remind your tween just how amazing they are by highlighting their strengths and the things that makes them completely unique.

Can you imagine the impact this could have on your TWEEN?!

As a photographer, and a mother, I am on a mission to continue to create this experience for young tweens in our area to help build a positive self-image and zone in on their strengths through The Who I Am project.
